Topaz Jones is a contemporary Native American artist and an enrolled member of the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes of Duck Valley, Nevada. She is also a descendant of the Kalapuya, and Molalla tribes from the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. Born in 1983 in Portland, Oregon, Jones spent most of her childhood growing up in Tigard, Oregon. Jones has been captivated by art since she was a child, and took up drawing early in age. Encouraged by her father Tom Jones to develop her artistic path he signed her up for her first oil painting class at just 11 years old.
Jones attended the Institute of American Indian Arts, graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Currently, Jones resides in Santa Fe, NM with her family. In the upcoming years, Jones will create contemporary art forms incorporating traditional techniques from her multi-cultural background.
